BLUE BONNET
BLUEGRASS
Recommended
Use: Designed
for highly maintained turf areas of golf courses, athletic fields
and home lawns. Can also be used in low maintenance
applications of the landscape.
Areas of Adaptation: Areas where other quality
Kentucky Bluegrass's is adapted for permanent turf and/or sod production.
|
Varietal Description:
Blue Bonnet Kentucky Bluegrass was
developed to provide a broad leafed, dark green plant with
high shoot density. It has a semi-prostrate growth habit;
good wear tolerance, and good color retention. This cultivar
greens up early in the spring and retains its color
throughout the growing season.
|
Blue Bonnet is a low growing turf cultivar with
good seedling vigor. Its vigorous growth helps it recover
rapidly from damage and remains an excellent choice for good
turf in difficult growing conditions. It exhibits very good
wear tolerance which makes it an excellent choice for
athletic fields, parks, golf courses, home lawns, or where
ever a durable turf is needed.

NOTE:
Seedland does NOT
currently sell this variety.
It may be included in some mixtures
that we sell. |
Blue Bonnet has a long season of turf color and
vigor, moderate leaf texture, and good sod knitting
capabilities. Blue Bonnet performs well when cut as
low as ¾ inch, but the recommended mowing height is 1 ½ to
2 inches for optimum results. Blue Bonnet can be used
in low maintenance applications but best results are
achieved under high maintenance and full fertility programs.
Blue Bonnet can be used alone or in combination with
similar
Kentucky
bluegrasses, perennial ryegrasses, tall fescues, and fine fescues.
Strengths:
1. Exceptional seedling vigor for rapid
establishment.
2. Forms a strong, weed resistant sod with high tensile strength.
3. Prostrate growth habit provides rapid recovery from damage.
4. Blends well with tall fescue because of its medium green color
and leaf texture.
5. Outstanding wear tolerance makes it ideal for parks and
athletic fields.
6. Good disease tolerance.
